Everyone is different, but I've had good success changing one habit at a time and continuously iterating. Right now I'm working on getting out of bed quicker. I have a bad habit of getting on my phone right when I wake up. Most days I spend +30 min scrolling through news articles, social media, etc. It's not productive time.

5am wake up is impressive to even attempt. I can wake up that early in summer when it's light out, but it's hard for me in winter.

I love making a to-do list purely because of the moment of happiness I feel when I decide NOT to do something. Like taking a cold shower in the morning. What feels better than allowing yourself not to do it?

I love routines. I love reading about routines, too, so thank you for this post.

My practice, years ago, was to cultivate routines that supported self-destructive habits whilst being highly productive - doing the morning papers, working on the manuscript, then pouring the first glass of wine by noon. Kicked some goals but didn't really work out long term.

Then I lived in an ashram for a while which is a satisfying sort of place for a routine-lover to dwell, because everyone in an ashram lives by the same schedule. When a group of people sustain a creative or devotional routine together over a period of time, miraculous changes start to take place in the collective psychology and profoundly beautiful things start to take shape in consequence.

This sort of phenomenon is profoundly inspiring for me so I just thought I'd share. And I hope you meet your goals! ♥️
